“In the Islamic practice of wudu, it is necessary to purify oneself before participating in worship.” It involves washing specific parts of the body in a prescribed manner to achieve ritual purity.
To perform wudu, one should follow these steps:
Make intention to perform wudu for the sake of Allah.
Begin by saying “Bismillah” (In the name of Allah).
Wash your hands three times, starting with the right hand, up to the wrists.
Rinse your mouth three times
and then clean your nose three times by sniffing water in and blowing it out.
Wash your face three times from the hairline to the chin and from ear to ear.
Wash your arms three times up to the elbow, starting with the right arm.
Wipe your head once with wet hands, moving them from the forehead to the back of the head and then back to the forehead.
Clean your ears by wiping the inside and outside with your index fingers and thumbs.
Finally, wash your feet three times up to the ankles, starting with the right foot.
The dua after wudu is: “Ashhadu alla ilaha illallah wahdahu la sharika lah, wa ashhadu anna Muhammadan ‘abduhu wa rasuluhu.” (I bear witness that there is no god but Allah alone, without partner, and I bear witness that Muhammad is His servant and Messenger.)
